„La Figure de la Terre“ | Konzeption und Gestaltung des grafischen Erscheinungsbildes einer modernen Kammeroper

Für die Kammeroper „La Figure de la Terre“ konzipierte ich das Plakatmotiv, das ebenso auf dem Cover des Programmheftes und dem Flyer Verwendung fand. Thematisch handelt die Oper von dem französischen Mathematiker Maupertuis, der in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts nach Lappland reiste, um die Erdkrümmung an den Polen zu vermessen. Das Libretto des finnischen Autors und Regiseurs Jaakko Nousiainen stellt allerdings die Geschichte der Christine Planström in den Mittelpunkt, die ihre Heimat Lappland verlässt und der Expedition Maupertuis nach Paris folgt.

Die Gestaltung nimmt die Besonderheiten der Inszenierung auf. Zum einen steht die Figur der Christine, wie im Stück, auch in der Gestaltung im Mittelpunkt. Ihr Bild spiegelt die Videoprojektionen wieder, mit denen die Bühne gestaltet wurde. Ebenso finden sich Elemente der Vermessung auf dem Plakat. Die Farbigkeit ist kühl nordisch in Blau und Gelb gehalten. Der Schriftzug stammt von der originalen Veröffentlichung der Ergebnisse der Expedition aus dem 18. Jahrhundert.

Die Uraufführung der Oper fand am 13. April 2013 in den SOPHIENSÆLEN Berlin statt.

/// For the chamber opera “La Figure de la Terre” I designed the main motive, which was used for posters, flyers and the programme. With regards to content the opera deals with the french mathematic Maupertuis, who travelled to Lappland to messure the curvature of the earth during the first half of the 18th century. Indeed the libretto of the finnish director Jaakko Nousiainen centers the story of Christine Planström, who left her home to follow Maupertuis Expedition to Paris.

The design integrates the characteristics of the production. On the one hand the figure of Christine stands in the center as she does within the opera. Her picutre mirrors the video projections, which builded the complete stagedesign. There are also elements of mesurements inside the posters motive.The colours are noric and coolish. The title uses the original typeface of the publication of the 18th century, where the facts of the expedition were released.

The premiere of the opera took place in SOPHIENSÆLE Berlin on 13. April 2013.
